BIOGRAPHY
Johnny Selfridge practises predominantly in the area of Sports Law, having significant previous experience of Contract, Regulatory, Family and Criminal Law.
He was called to the private Bar in Queensland in 2004 (and also still holds a current practising certificate at the private Bar in England & Wales). Johnny is a member of both the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple London (Inner Temple) and of the Bar Association of Queensland (BAQ).
In 2010, Johnny undertook the inaugural post graduate Sports Law Certificate at the University of Queensland. He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Sports Lawyers Association (ANZSLA) and the British Association for Sport & Law (BASL). Johnny also sits on the Appeals Committee for Football Qld and has recently travelled as far as India, China and UK in dealing with Sports related matters. Johnny has also represented the State of Queensland domestically in a number of public inquiry/inquests.
For the past 18 years, Johnny has taught on the Bar Practice Course and has presented seminar papers on a wide range of topics for the BAQ, FLPA and CPPAQ.
He was an elected member of the BAQ Council from 2018 to 2020 and has previously also been a serving member on the ABA Ethics Committee and the BAQ Family Law Committee and is still a current member of the BAQ Ethics Committee.
For the last 7 years Johnny has been listed as a Leading Queensland Barrister in Doyle’s Guide to the Australian Legal Profession, an independent ranking of legal practitioners based on peer review.
Johnny is a Nationally Accredited Mediator (NMAS), having completed the Mediation Course at Harvard University, Massachusetts and is also a qualified Arbitrator (AIFLAM).
